Βιογραφικό

Ο Γρηγόρης Καβαζίδης γεννήθηκε το 1938 στα Κασσιτερά του Νομού Κομοτηνής. Σε ηλικία 14 χρονών μαθαίνει λύρα από τον πατέρα του, Καβαζίδη Θεόδωρο. Το 1963 μεταναστεύει στην Φρανκφούρτη όπου εργάζεται σε χημική βιομηχανία. Παντρεύεται την Ελένη Ιωαννίδου και αποκτούν δύο παιδιά την Θεοδώρα και την Μαρία. Από το 1986 παίζει λύρα στον ποντιακό σύλλογο της πόλης με χοροδιδάσκαλο τον καθηγητή κοινωνιολογίας και συγγραφέα Μαυρίδη Σάββα. Το 2002 επιστρέφει στην Ελλάδα και εγκαθίσταται στην Καβάλα όπου εκεί ζει μέχρι και σήμερα.

Grigoris Kavazidis was born in 1938 in Kassitera, in the Prefecture of Komotini. At the age of 14, he learned to play the lyra from his father, Theodoros Kavazidis. In 1963, he emigrated to Frankfurt, where he worked in the chemical industry. He married Eleni Ioannidou, and together they had two children, Theodora and Maria. From 1986, he played the lyra with the city’s Pontian association, with sociology professor and author Savvas Mavridis serving as the dance instructor. In 2002, he returned to Greece and settled in Kavala, where he has lived ever since.
